ABOUT

My goal is to express through painting a resonance between what is seen and what is felt; to integrate visual ideas with non-visual ideas - whether they are physical, intellectual, spiritual, or emotional.

I grew up in Providence, spending summers in Yarmouthport, on Cape Cod. I first studied art at Washington University in St Louis. Then, moving to New York City, I got a BA at New York University, and took classes in painting and anatomy at the Art Student’s League. I hold an MFA from Brooklyn College where I received the Charles Shaw award. There I studied with Sam Gelber, Lee Bontecue, Lois Dodd and Phillip Pearlstein.

I lived in NYC, mostly Brooklyn, for 35 years until 1998 when I moved to Stockbridge, MA..
